Revised schedule for workshop series

The revised schedule for the workshop series is as follows:

The first workshop class (6PM – 7:15PM) will be on Sunday, January 21, and will be Salsa, taught by Lisa and Chris.

Next, on the 28th, will be Bachata, taught by Kelly and, hopefully, Stephanya

February 4th will feature Samba, taught by David and Lisa

February11th will be Bolero, taught by David and Lisa

$15 non-students, $5 students.

Everyone is welcome! No previous dance experience is required, nor is a fixed dance partner.  We ask that you use the hand sanitizer provided between partners (or bring your own).

URGENT! Class cancelled for Sunday, January 14!

Due to the weather, this Sunday is a Code Purple in Newark, and it is St. Thomas’ turn to host the homeless.  That means the Great Hall will be unavailable this week, and the Salsa class is cancelled.  I need to talk to the other instructors and will send out a revised schedule as soon as possible.

Fox Trot and Rumba Classes starting on Sunday, November 12!

Starting Sunday, November 12th, we’ll be teaching Beginner Fox Trot and Rumba at 6pm, and Intermediate Fox Trot and Rumba at 7pm.  No experience is necessary.  Classes will automatically adjust to the overall skill level of class attendees.  

The session will start on Sunday, November 12th and run for six weeks until Sunday, December 17th. 

• Sunday 6:00-7:00 PM: Beginner Fox Trot and Rumba with David and Lisa
• Sunday 7:00-8:00 PM: Intermediate Fox Trot and Rumba with David and Lisa

We will also have a Bolero workshop on Sunday, June 25th!  $5 for students, $10 everyone else.

Given the warm temperatures, we also encourage BYOF (Bring Your Own Fan) to help keep the room a little cooler.

Practice Night at St. Thomas Episcopal Church

Sunday, June 4, we will have an Open Floor practice at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 276 S College Ave, Newark, DE, 19711, from 6-7:30 PM.  Admittance is a flat $5 per person.  We will be playing FoxTrot, Rumba, Tango, and Swing primarily, but others as requested and within reason (read: no Polka).

And this will be after the next social dance at Take the Lead Dance Studio, 320 Lantana Drive, Hockessin, DE, on Saturday, June 3, 7:30-10:00 PM ($15 per person).

There should be one more class at Cecil College before the summer break.  I don’t have any details yet.

As we’re entering warmer months, please dress accordingly.  To that end, we have DE Ballroom Team shirts available!  We have moisture-wicking “workout” shirts for men and women as well as long-sleeved cotton blend shirts available for the fall.

Are these shirts a fundraiser?  No!  At least, not directly.  We’re hoping you’ll wear them to the gym, the grocery store, or even to Fight Club!  (Note:  Do NOT talk about Fight Club!)  There’s a handy QR code on the back of the shirt that will link to our website for class information.

So sign up for a class and order a shirt (or two!).  Ordering closes on Saturday, April 22 at midnight, and we should receive the shirts in early May and will distribute them in class.

Want the shirt but can’t commit to this session?  Order one anyway, and we’ll figure something out, even if I have to mail it.  This also goes for team alumni.
